What is Python?
Python is a high-level, object-oriented programming language. It is open-source, fast and easy to learn.
Python is widely popular because of the following features:
- Extensive libraries: Many specialized libraries for applications such as machine learning and data analysis
- Stability: New and stable releases issued regularly
- Simplicity: Easy to use with a simple syntax, and easy to read
While Python is a general purpose language, it is primarily used for web development, data science and scripting.
Who uses Python?
Created by Guido van Rossum and first published in 1991, Python is one of the most popular programming languages and is at the heart of data science.
The Dutch computer scientist Guido van Rossum named his creation Python after Monty Python, a popular British comedy group. 🎭
Python is used by several data scientists, analysts and machine learning engineers because of its simple syntax, simplicity and powerful packages such as Matplotlib, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn and TensorFlow.
